About Batch

Owned by the trade, built for the trade.

Our purpose

Batch was created by the book industry to solve a shared problem: the cost and complexity of settling accounts between thousands of bookshops and hundreds of suppliers. Every service we build starts from that same principle.

We are not a general payments business. Every process, report and screen is designed around how books are actually bought, returned and reconciled.

How we work

Our team combines bookselling experience with supply chain technology, so support comes from people who understand a Saturday in a busy shop as well as an EDI specification.

Development is led by the needs of members. Booksellers and publishers sit on our working groups, and service changes are shaped and tested with them before release.

Common questions.

How much does a Batch account cost?

Bookshop accounts are free to open. Batch is funded by a small service charge applied to participating suppliers, so there is no per invoice fee for retailers.

Payments are collected on the published authorisation date each month. You will see the next date on your dashboard and in your statement email.

Yes. Batch works with all major EPOS providers, and invoices can be exported to your accounting package in a standard format.

Claims are raised from the invoice line inside your account. The supplier is notified immediately and any credit is offset against your next authorisation.
